Shopping for what??

Crop sweaters, crop hoodies, crop tank tops, crop T’s, I love crop tops! I can tell you whether I am going out to the groceries, seeing friends or I am lounging at home, I am more than likely wearing some kind of high waisted pants with a cropped top! It’s the most comfortable for me especially now that it is 90+ degrees here in Denver.

So do you have an idea about what this topic is going to be about?! That’s right, CROP TOPS! Instead of shopping this season (because who wants to spend on Summer 2020 when you have nowhere to go) why don’t you go through your closet and find T’s that you don’t wear!

Basically the backstory of why I decided to cut up some T-shirts up is because I have this one Santa Cruz Tee that is a nice basic classic top, but I never wore it because I got it in a size too big, and the shirt wasn’t worn enough, so it would be hard to tie up and stay! Sometime during quarantine, at the beginning, I decided I should cut my Santa Cruz Tee so that it’s NOT big on me. Best decision ever because now I wear this cropped Tee ALL the time!

So what I would recommend is going through all those t-shirts you own from being a part of clubs, shirts that you found when you were traveling or ones that you bought when you went to a concert! Are they t-shirts that you’re OK with cropping? Also would the shirt design get cut off if you were to crop the Tee? These are questions I definitely consider before cutting up more of my t-shirts; I have some that I refuse to cut up just because I already found a way to wear it nicely, why break what’s not broken?!

What I did once I selected a couple more shirts is, I put each shirt on individually and got an idea of where I would want it to be cropped! I made a mental note and when I was changing, folded the shirt exactly where I wanted to cut it. You also want to make sure you’re not cutting it too short because you can’t go back but if you cut longer than what you’re expecting, that’ll make sure you’re NOT cutting it shorter than your preference and you can always cut more if needed!

I then got a pair of sharp scissors (if they’re not sharp, it can cut wrongly so be careful!), opened up my shirt and cut on the folded line I had made. This part is relatively easy, once you’ve cut straight across, try it on and see if you like the length!
